Itinerary - 2012

Here's the plan:

Wednesday, June 27th- meet at 5:00pm to head up to the hilltop about midnight or so. Pay me the rest of the fees in cash. Either start hiking in or sleep a couple of hours at the top before making the descent. It's about 8 miles to the village.
Thursday, June 28th - arrive at the village early in the morning to pay fees and reserve mules. Most of you will just head to the campgrounds and find us a sweet spot. I will stay in the village till the office opens to pay our fees. . If you plan to have your pack muled out, you'll want to make arrangements with 2-3 other people before arriving to the village. You'll need to bring cash to split the cost and have one person stay with me to pay for your mule. From the office, hike to the campgrounds (about 2 more miles) and set up camp to rest a bit. The rest of the day we'll play in the falls.
Friday - Saturday, June 29th-30th - play!!! Anyone interested in hiking to the Colorado this year? It's about a 16 mile round trip hike and will take all day. It is seriously worth it and one of my favorite hikes.
Sunday, July 1st - Hike out early in the morning. For those interested, there is a branch in the village that meets in the later morning, not sure of the time, I think 10 or 11 am. They only hold sacrament meeting, so it's just an hour. If you want to go, I would ask that you not hike out immediately afterwards. It will put you at the switchbacks at the hottest time of the day and by then you'll have depleted most of your water. Instead, hang out at the restaurant in the village to eat Supai tacos and wait till about 2 o'clock to hike out, or you could pay to take the helicopter out.
